IPL Facial in Langley
IPL facial (photofacial) in Langley, BC for sun spots, freckles, redness and rosacea. Usually 3–5 sessions. Book a skin assessment at our Willoughby clinic.
An IPL facial, also called a photofacial or IPL photorejuvenation, uses pulses of broad-spectrum light to fade brown spots and redness. It works best on light to medium skin. We’ll tell you at your consultation whether it’s the right choice for your skin, or whether another treatment is safer.
What an IPL Facial Treats
- Sun spots and age spots
- Freckles
- Facial redness and rosacea
- Small visible blood vessels (broken capillaries)
- Uneven, sun-damaged skin tone
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only works on follicles in the active growth phase. That’s why one session is never enough: each visit catches a new set of follicles.
How IPL Works
A laser uses a single wavelength of light. IPL (intense pulsed light) delivers many wavelengths at once. The light is absorbed by melanin (brown pigment) and hemoglobin (the red in blood vessels), so one treatment can target brown spots and redness together.
After treatment, brown spots usually darken and then flake away within about a week. Redness fades gradually over a series of sessions.
Who IPL Is Right For (and Who It Isn’t)
IPL works best on Fitzpatrick skin types I–III: light to medium skin that burns or tans moderately. On darker skin (types IV–VI), or on melasma, IPL can cause hyperpigmentation or make discolouration worse.
If you have medium-deep to deep skin, or melasma, we’ll recommend a safer option instead:
- PicoSure Pro for pigment and melasma
- Microneedling for texture and dark marks
IPL Photofacial vs Laser
| Feature | IPL Photofacial | Pigment Laser (PicoSure Pro) |
|---|---|---|
| Light | Many wavelengths | Single wavelength |
| Treats | Brown spots and redness together |
Brown pigment, melasma, tattoo ink |
| Best skin types | I–III | Wider range, including darker skin |
How Many IPL Sessions You Need
- Typical course: 3 to 5 sessions, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart.
- Rosacea and redness: usually need the full series.
- Maintenance: 1 to 2 sessions a year once you’re happy with the result.
Before and After Your IPL Facial
- Arrive tan-free: no recent sun, tanning beds or self-tanner. Tanned skin raises the risk of burns and pigment changes.
- After treatment: brown spots darken before they flake off. Don’t pick them.
- SPF every day: sun exposure brings spots back and undoes results.
